As I write this article there is a home baby gender test available over the internet, which will determine the sex of your baby at just 6 weeks into your pregnancy.
which gender

We have decided to try for another baby, and although I'm more than happy with my one daughter I've always hoped that one day I'd have a son also. If we managed to conceive today, I could find out if that were likely to be a reality in just 6 weeks time.

A little over a month ago I had no kids, drove a two seater sports car, and was expecting a gentle transition into fatherhood. This morning I was reading my Sunday paper in the kitchen accompanied by 4 children (aged between 1 month and 13 years old), 4 dogs, and a cat. I was a family sitcom waiting to happen, all they needed to do was roll the cameras.
too many kids

Amélie was born one month and 5 days ago. This was promptly followed by a wave of visitors eager to see her. At 3 weeks old we were starting to get a little more time alone to bond as a family, and to get into some kind of routine. It was at this time that the chain of events were set in motion for my Walton style Sunday.

27 Hour Labour - A Fathers Perspective Part Two

Yesterday our daughter was born after 27 hours of labour, This is part 2, the middle of labour trying to convince Clare she didn't need pain relief.

Clare had obviously been suffering a lot of pain. Here is where I'm going to be hated by every woman on earth and a lot of men also, apart from Tom Cruise who probably thinks I'm too soft. I'd advised Clare not to take pain relief, and we had discussed this very early on in the pregnancy. It's my view that you can cause damage to your body if it's compromised with pain killing drugs or relaxants. You need to listen to your body, I also think that mother nature may have other tricks up her sleeve such as the pain helping with bonding with the baby and moving into motherhood.

When is the right time to have a baby? I don't think there is a right time and is it normal to have such mixed emotions.

After lengthly discussions we decided as we were both close on 33 it was time to start trying for a baby as we were not getting any younger. I had come off the pill a year earlier just to make sure that it was out of my system but we were very careful not to get pregnant. We had come to the conclusion that it would never be the right time to have a baby as you would always think of some reason as to why to put it off. Age was not on our side though and we had no idea as to how long it would take us to get pregnant.

We had a lot of visitors around the time we decided to try so could not get down to business. The night we decided to go for it was the night we conceived.
